This was my First Ever Pride Parade! I took public transit all the way there from Riverside!
I wore the colors of the Asexual ("Ace" for short) flag! And for anyone who doesn't know, Asexuality is the sexual orientation where an individual feels no sexual attraction. That's me. That's always been me. And seeing this group in the parade and finding others like me was a special feeling I felt for possibly the first time ever and will never forget.
The 2SLGBTQQIA+ community is an incredibly supportive and powerful group of people with a passion for inclusivity, acceptance, understanding, and hope for a better world for everyone. Shout out to everyone I met! Queer, ally, or otherwise. Thank you all for being a part of a very special day. <333 You're all amazing! And everyone looked SO GREAT!
And if you were there and you're actually here checking out my blog.... OH EM GEE!!!! HI!!!! YOU'RE SO AWESOME! c,: Thank you Thank you Thank you! (Book title and cover announcement coming NEXT WEEK! Stay tuned!)
Just before I left LA on the Metrolink from Union Station, I was able to capture just a small part of the peaceful protest against the recently enacted anti-immigration policies of this time that unfortunately escalated to violence. I could not in good conscious omit the last photos of my day because this is the world we live in and the first step to improving society is acknowledging that there are indeed problems.
A somber ending to an otherwise cheerful day. But upon speaking with some new friends (with very cool shoes! c;) I made on the train, and as we adjusted to our new reality, what gave me peace was repeating and believing in the phrase I had heard countless times earlier that day; "Love will win".
Love will win. <333 Take care, Y'all. ~Enjoy
